maybe, someday, soon.
a friendship is a special bond between two people; when it’s good, it’s like magic. you laugh, you cry, you adventure, comfort — you get to know each other. there are different levels of friendship, from the ones you only see on facebook to the ones you see in passing or hang out with every once in a while. and then, there are your “best” friends. they’re the “best” because they’re the ones you go to for everything: when you need a shoulder to cry on, when you just met the boy/girl of your dreams, when you need a place to stay when your family is driving you crazy… they are the ones that are always there for you.
these types of friendships are not easily given, they are mutually earned. it may take years to develop, or it may take months; regardless of the time spent getting there, the moments shared within them is worth it.
the longer your friendship, the stronger it becomes. the more you learn about each other, the closer you get.
no matter how cliche it sounds, a real friend is always there for you. they listen, they advise, they are honest. you scratch their back, they scratch yours. you help one another and your friendship is mutually beneficial.
one of the most important things in a friendship, in my opinion, is goodwill towards one another. you encourage each other, you challenge [peacefully] each other, you help each other, and you wish well to one another.
once a friendship like this is built, it takes a lot to break. fighting and arguing is inevitable - but, together you laugh it off, fix the issue, and continue on.
but, sometimes, there are things you cannot fix. words you cannot change. hurt you cannot heal.
maybe someday soon, we will be friends again. maybe someday soon, we go back to the way things were. maybe someday soon, i will learn how to be more patient. maybe someday soon, you will learn to let go. maybe someday soon, i will learn how to forgive. maybe someday soon, you will learn to grow up. maybe someday soon, i will take time to appreciate what you’ve given me. maybe someday soon, you will learn to appreciate what i had given you. maybe someday soon, i will try harder to understand . maybe someday soon, you will learn to say you’re sorry, mean it, and do something to make sure it never happens again.
